Ferdous Ahmed, a Bangladeshi actor and former member of parliament, has built a strong friendship with West Bengal actress Rituparna Sen alongside his work in the Indian film industry. Their close relationship is widely known, and they frequently visit each other's homes. Ferdous stays at Rituparna's house during his trips to Kolkata, while Rituparna is welcomed as a guest at his home when she visits Dhaka.
Since August 5, following the resignation of Sheikh Hasina's government due to the anti-discrimination student-public movement, Ferdous has disappeared from public view. He has been absent from social media as well. In recent days, rumours have spread online suggesting that Ferdous has sought refuge at his friend Rituparna's residence in Kolkata.
However, on August 17, Rituparna informed a national media outlet that this news is completely false. She is currently in Singapore. From there, she confirmed that Ferdous is not at her Kolkata home.
She said, “I have also heard the news that Ferdous has taken shelter at my home. This news is being spread on social media with a picture of us two. That picture was taken at a show some time ago. Ferdous is my best friend, everyone knows that.”
“The last time I went to Dhaka, I visited his house. He also comes to my house when he is in Kolkata. We regularly visit each other. But to tell the truth, I haven't been able to contact him after this incident.”
She further said, “Suddenly I hear that Ferdous has taken shelter in my Indian home, what kind of propaganda is this! We can't stop the mouths of those who are spreading such propaganda. I want to say, I have a very good relationship with Bangladesh. Ferdous is a good friend of mine, but it's not at all true that he has left the country and come to my house!”
The actress added, “I don't even know where Ferdous is now, or in what condition. I just want him to be well, healthy, and safe wherever he is. Because Ferdous is a very good person. Even during the election, he told me, 'I want to do good work. I want to work for the welfare of people.' That's why he came to contest the election. Anyway, now there's a different kind of situation in his country. I want to think that Ferdous is safe and well wherever he is. But I hope peace returns to Bangladesh.”
For context, Ferdous came into the limelight in 1998 with his performance in the Kolkata film ‘Hothat Brishti’. He even won the National Film Award for 'Best Actor' for this film. Since then, he has been regularly acting in Kolkata films. In 2001, Rituparna and Ferdous paired up for the first time in the film 'Ostad'. A good friendship developed between them through their work.
