The Association of Koreans in Chattogram organised a vibrant Korean Movie and Pop Festival in Chattogram. The event was inaugurated with a cake-cutting ceremony on Friday at the Theater Institute in the city.
Chattogram City Corporation mayor Dr. Shahadat Hussain attended the event as the chief guest. The South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh, Park Young-sik, was present as the special guest.
Anup Baran Das, executive director of Azim Group, S.M Rakibul Hasan, vice president of Woori Bank; and Mohammad Mohsin, vice chairman of PHP Family were present as the speacial guest.
In his inaugural speech, Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hussain highlighted Chattogram's significance as a commercial city, adding that such cultural programs strengthen the ties between the two nations.
Ambassador Park Young-sik reflected on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and South Korea in 1973, noting the growth in trade, education, and cultural exchanges since then.
Anup Baran Das expressed his honor in participating in the festival, while Mohammad Mohsin remarked that the festival fosters connections between the people of both countries. S.M Rakibul Hasan added that such events enhance cultural and business relationships.
The festival's main attractions included mesmerizing performances by South Korean artists Aski Angela and Heavens L. A special raffle draw was held for attendees, with exciting prizes up for grabs.
Jin Hyuk Paik, chairman of the Association of Koreans in Chattogram, said that the event was organized to promote cultural exchange between Korea and Bangladesh.
The day-long celebration featured Korean movie screenings, a chance to taste Korean cuisine, and various other cultural activities. With over a hundred attendees, the event was a testament to the growing interest in Korean culture in Chattogram. Azim Group served as the main sponsor of this colorful fest.
