23rd Dhaka International Film Festival to begin on January 11

The 23rd edition of the Dhaka International Film Festival is going to start in Dhaka from January 11 organised by the Rainbow Film Society. The festival will continue till January 19.

The festival director, Ahmed Muztaba Zamal, eminent actor Ilias Kanchan, festival chairperson Kishwar Kamal, festival committee member Rafiquzzaman, masterclass coordinator Bidhan Rebeiro and Women in Cinema conference director Sadia Khalid Reeti spoke at the festival's press conference on January 9 at Dhaka Club. The inaugural ceremony will be held on Saturday, January 11, at 4:00 PM in the Main Auditorium of the Bangladesh National Museum.

Advisor to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Md. Nahid Islam will attend the ceremony as the chief guest. H.E. Yao Wen, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China and Xu Yang, Director of International Division, China Film Administration will be a special guest.

The ceremony will be presided over by Jalal Ahmed, Chairman of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission and member of the Executive Committee, Dhaka International Film Festival.

This year 220 films from 75 countries will be screened. The sections are Asian Competition Section, Retrospective Section, Bangladesh Panorama, Wide Angle, Cinema of the World, Children's Film, Spiritual Biswas, Short and Independent Film and Women's Film Section. Various seminars will be organized. Along with the country's star artists and producers, film personalities from different countries will participate in this.

The films will be screened at the National Museum's main auditorium and the Poet Sufia Kamal Auditorium, the National Art and Dance Hall Auditorium of the Shilpakala Academy, and the Alliance Française Auditorium.
