For his special contribution to stage drama, playwright Dr. Mukid Choudhury has been honored with the SBSPS Literature Award and Honor 2024. Recently, the announcement was made by Ahmed Syed Shahinur, the president of Sonar Bangla Sahitya Parishad (SBSP).
It was mentioned during the announcement that the organization has been presenting awards in various categories for the past eight years. Continuing that tradition, this year, Dr. Mukid Choudhury has been recognized with this award for his remarkable contribution to stage drama. According to sources, the award and honor will be officially presented to him at a grand event in February.
Upon being nominated for the SBSPS Literature Award, Dr. Mukid Choudhury, the pioneer of the Bengali Movement Theater Artistry, said, "Stage drama deeply fascinates me. From 1996 to 2017, I have actively worked in this field.
My plays have been staged in Bangladesh, India, and Great Britain. Personally, I feel a strong attraction to the innovative Bengali Movement Theater Artistry, which primarily focuses on engaging those who have never performed on stage before. This literary award will further inspire me to explore new avenues in Bengali Movement Theater Artistry."
Notably, Dr. Mukid Choudhury is the youngest son of the rebellious fiction writer Abdur Rauf Choudhury and Ratnogarbha Shireen Choudhury. He is simultaneously a scientist, novelist, essayist, playwright, and poet, with a presence in almost every domain of Bengali literature.
