Celebrated Bangladeshi actor Chanchal Chowdhury recently wrapped up filming for the movie ‘Padatik’, which is based on the life of the late filmmaker Mrinal Sen. Directed by Indian filmmaker Srijit Mukherjee, the film is set to be released in both Bangladesh and West Bengal later this year.

Variety Magazine recently featured a photo of Chanchal Chowdhury as Mrinal Sen, alongside an interview with the actor, director Srijit Mukherjee, and producer Firdausul Hasan. Chanchal shared the photo on his verified Facebook account on Tuesday (16 May) night, which quickly went viral. He expressed his surprise in the caption, saying, “I was surprised when I saw the photo. Is it Mrinal Sen or me!!! It took a while to realize the truth, but it also felt a lot better. What a wonderful work by makeup artist Somnath Kundu.”

In the same post, Chanchal expressed his gratitude to director Srijit Mukherjee for choosing him to play such a challenging role. He wrote, ‘Padatik’ is likely to be released this year. The producer wants to release ‘Padatik’ in both Bangladesh and West Bengal at the same time. Director Srijit Mukherjee has made the movie ‘Padatik’ to pay tribute to the famous filmmaker Mrinal Sen's birth centenary. Thanks and immense gratitude to Srijit Da for choosing me in such a challenging role.

Meanwhile, a popular song by the late lyricist Gazi Mazharul Islam titled ‘Dhaka Shohor Aisa Amar Asha Furaiche’, performed by Chanchal and Shaon, was released on YouTube during the last Eid-al-Fitr. The song received high praise from listeners.
