National Film Award-winning actress Farida Akhtar Poppy, known by her stage name Babita, reminisced about fond memories with legendary actor, freedom fighter, and Member of Parliament, Akbar Hossain Pathan (Farooque), who passed away on May 15.

Babita acted alongside Farooque in several notable films, including the critically acclaimed ‘Noyon Moni’, ‘Lathial’, and ‘Golapi Ekhon Traine’. The duo earned huge admiration from fans and audiences for their on-screen chemistry.

Deeply saddened by Farooque's demise, Babita could not attend the final farewell to the legend as she had already left for Canada on the same day Farooque's body was brought to the country after he passed away in a Singapore hospital.

Expressing her grief over Farooque's departure, Babita said, “I am deeply saddened by the death of Farooque Bhai; it is beyond words. We acted in many movies together. We had been to many places. Everything is floating in front of my eyes. It seems like everything happened just a few days ago, but life has come to an end today.”

“Farooque Bhai passed away, leaving behind thousands of memories, countless fans, and people's love. May Allah grant him Jannatul Ferdous”, she added.

Babita informed that her air ticket to visit her son in Canada was confirmed a long time ago, and she could not find a way to cancel the ticket on the day of her flight. During the flight, she recalled countless memories with actor Farooque and expressed her regret at not being able to attend his funeral.

The actress expressed her desire to visit actor Farooque’s grave in Kaliganj and offer prayers for the departed soul once she returns to Bangladesh.

Babita last acted in the film ‘Putra Ekhon Paisawala’ directed by Nargis Akter.
