I want to do something in film : Nirab

Md Shakhawat Hossain Nirab, professionally known as Nirab, is a talented Bangladeshi film actor and model. He began his journey in the entertainment industry as a model and has since appeared in numerous tele-dramas, films, and television commercials (TVCs). Currently, he is actively engaged in promoting his latest film project. Recently, his film titled 'Fire Dekha' was released on June 16, and another movie called 'Casino' is eagerly anticipated for release during the upcoming Eid festival. In an exclusive interview with Sondhan Sarkar of The Daily Messenger, Nirab shares insights into his recent endeavors and work experiences. Here are some excerpts from the interview:

The Daily Messenger (TDM): What are you currently busy with? 

Nirab: Recently, my movie 'Fire Dekha' has been released, and I am busy with its promotion. Besides that, another movie titled 'Casino' will be released during the upcoming Eid, and I am also busy with its promotion. Apart from that, I have recently signed a new movie titled 'Su-Swagatam.'

TDM: 'Fire Dekha' is a liberation war-based movie. Did you face any difficulties in portraying your character?

Nirab: Based on a story of our great liberation war, 'Fire Dekha' is the directorial debut film for Rozina Apa (Film actress Rozina). I was very curious about the movie, and the shooting experience was also good. My character's name is Amin, a student who is the younger brother of Rozina Apa in the film. The boy took part in the liberation war for the sake of the country. However, I think we cannot fully portray the movie based on the liberation war due to various constraints, including the budget. Even if we want to, we can't go back 52 years ago. But everyone, including Rozina Apa, in the unit tried their best. It was a wonderful teamwork. The songs of the movie are also melodious.

TDM: The shooting of 'Casino' was completed in 2020. Why is the release so late?

Nirab: We would have been happy if we could have released it on time. But the main reason was the Covid-19 pandemic. Since it is a big-budget movie, we wanted to release it at a suitable time. According to the plan, it's going to be released this Eid. We hope this movie will be able to compete with other Eid movies.

TDM: Would you like to share the story of the movie?

Nirab: Basically, the story revolves around the illegal casino business. My role is that of a detective police officer whose job is to find out who is involved in this crime. I am not allowed to share more about it at this moment. With a good story, the project has been beautifully accomplished. I hope the audience will enjoy this movie during the Eid festival.

TDM: OTT platforms are becoming very popular nowadays. What is your view on OTT? When will you be seen on OTT platforms?

Nirab: OTT is a very popular platform nowadays, not only in Bangladesh but also worldwide. I have nothing new to say about it. But I still enjoy working in movies because I am a big fan of watching movies in cinema halls. So, I have no plans to work on OTT for now.

TDM: You have worked in all mediums like modeling, TVC, drama, and film. Which one do you prefer the most?

Nirab: I find myself fit for all mediums, but I prefer working in films the most because I couldn't do anything remarkable in this field. I want to do something in the film industry.

TDM: Do you have a message for your fans?

Nirab: I would like to say to my fans to keep loving and supporting me.
