National Film Award-winning singer Dilshad Nahar Kona has been awarded as the 'Best Singer of the Decade' for her contribution to the music industry of Bangladesh in the last decade.

She received the award at the 'Bangladesh Achievers Award' ceremony on Monday.

Over the past years, Kona has delivered many popular melodious songs enjoyed by the audience with great interest. Kona has also become an essential singer in modern songs, as well as songs in movies and tele-dramas.

Among the artists of the current generation, Kona's jingles have carved a niche for herself. During the last decade, Kana has come up with several popular songs like ‘Tui Ki Amar Hobi Re’, ‘Dil Dil’, ‘Projaproti’, ‘Jhum Jhum Bristi’, ‘Borsha’, ‘Dhim Ta Na’, ‘Tumi Amar Mon’, and ‘Selfie Selfie’, among others.

Regarding being awarded the best singer, Kona said, "I am overwhelmed and stunned as I was recognised as the best singer of the decade. Thanks to my devoted listeners, who have listened to my songs with joy and encouragement for so long. I have always tried to surpass myself and do something new. I am just continuing that effort."

"I think my journey in the music industry has just started, and I want to drive with my listeners for many more years. The last decade has been really important to me because it was a decade of finding myself little by little after a long struggle. Several songs have been well received by the audience. I hope the songs will be timeless, and I express my gratitude to Bangladesh Achievers Award from the bottom of my heart for appreciating my journey," she added.

Meanwhile, Kona is scheduled to perform in a live concert in Melbourne on August 5. Popular Bangladeshi singer Imran Mahmudul will also share the stage with her in this stage show in Australia.
