Actor and Founder of Blackflame Theatre, Shake Tanvir Ahmed, has been awarded the 'Dr. Walker Uddin Award 2023' for his outstanding contribution to the Rohingya community in the USA.

The award was presented by distinguished individuals and organisations from across the globe on September 19. In recognition of his contributions to the fields of art and culture, Shake Tanvir Ahmed was also bestowed with the honorary 'Best Performance' award during this three-day event.

This significant gathering was organised by the Arakan Rohingya Union and the Burmese Rohingya Association of North America, two prominent organisations deeply involved in addressing the Rohingya crisis. The event took place at the Conference Hall in New York's Ozone Park area, coinciding with the United Nations General Session aimed at facilitating the return of Rohingyas to their homeland in Myanmar.

Shake Tanvir Ahmed's poignant contribution to this cause included a movement-based performance titled 'The Dark History,' which took place at New York's iconic Times Square on September 18. In an impactful 8-minute solo performance, he shed light on Myanmar's atrocities against the Rohingya population and advocated for the safe return of the millions of Rohingya refugees currently seeking shelter in Bangladesh.

Shake Tanvir Ahmed's dedication to art and culture, coupled with his active involvement in global events, has earned him numerous awards and honours, including the Japan-Bangla Peace Award.
