To celebrate Sheikh Russel's 60th birthday, the Bangladesh Computer Society (BCS) organised a painting competition and a discussion event on Wednesday.
BCS President Engineer Subrata Sarkar inaugurated the celebration of 'Sheikh Russel Day 2023' by cutting a cake with children at the BCS Innovation Centre in the capital. BCS Secretary General Kamruzzaman Bhuiyan and Dhaka University Fine Arts Faculty Professor Syed Abul Barak Alvi were also present at the event.
BCS President Subrata Sarkar said, “Sheikh Russel is an inspiration for children. His childhood was marked by numerous setbacks. Since childhood, Russel was beloved by everyone in the family. He is the youngest of five siblings. In the future, we plan to organize this event on a larger scale.”
Syed Abul Barak Alvi said, “Children's talents are developed through painting competitions. They express the images in their minds on canvas. In addition to learning about Sheikh Russel, our children also gained insights into Digital Bangladesh through this competition. These children will develop into responsible citizens in the future, upholding the spirit of freedom.”
The competition was held in two groups with the spontaneous participation of children. In category A, Rishit Shil Dhriti secured the first place, while Arushi Hasnat earned the second place, and Jarir Hasan Ayan took the third place.
In category B, Rishobh Shil Hridhi secured the first position, Tasfia Mahib Samira secured the second place, and Gazi Ayesha Siddika took the third place.
