Bangladesh Television (BTV) has initiated a talent hunt competition named 'Nobospondon' with the goal of discovering and nurturing the talents of children and teenagers involved in the cultural arena across the country.
The competition will encompass three categories: music, dance, and acting, and it's open to all children and adolescents aged eight to 14 years. Participants are allowed to compete in one or more categories, and children and adolescents with special needs, as well as individuals identifying as third gender, are also encouraged to participate.
Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, the Director General (DG) of BTV, confirmed this in a statement to journalists on Thursday.
He said, "We believe, Bangladesh Television's moral responsibility to contribute to the development of our national culture. 'Nobospondon' will play a pivotal role in fostering the creativity of children and teenagers. With the enthusiastic support of Prime Minister and under the guidance of the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, BTV is embarking on this talent hunt show."
The preliminary auditions for contestants will take place at the divisional level, and those who pass this phase will advance to the national-level finals held in Dhaka. To apply for the competition, candidates should complete the application process on the website http://btvns.teletalk.com.bd. The application period starts on October 30 and ends on November 30. A fee of 112 taka is required per person for each category of the competition, and payment can be made through teletalk. All relevant information about the competition can be found on the Bangladesh Television website at www.btv.gov.bd.
The press conference was also attended by Md. Zahirul Islam, Joint Secretary, Deputy Director General (Administration, Finance and Events), Syeda Tasmina Ahmed, Deputy Director General (News), Afsana Bilkis, Director (Administration), Jagadish Esh, Director (Events and Planning), General Manager Mahfuza Akter (Dhaka Centre), Zahidul Islam, News Editor, and other senior officials from BTV.
It is worth noting that a competitive programme for child artistes called 'Notun Kuri' was introduced in 1966 on Pakistan Television under the direction of artist Mustafa Monowar. After the independence of the country in 1976, ‘Notun Kuri’ started in Bangladesh television in a new form. After a long hiatus, BTV is going to start again the competitive programme title 'Nobospondon' with the participation of children and teenagers.
