The up-and-coming actress, Saima Smrity, is currently engrossed in various film projects. Among them, there's a movie titled 'Jontrona' on the verge of its release. Her journey in the showbiz industry commenced with a TV commercial directed by Amitabh Reza Chowdhury. Following this, she made appearances in numerous dramas and commercials. In an exclusive interview with Mahamudul Islam Sondhan of The Daily Messenger, Saima Smrity graciously shared insights into her recent ventures and work experiences. Here are some excerpts from the interview:

The Daily Messenger: What are you currently busy with?
Saima Smrity: I’m currently very busy with the promotion and release of the movie titled ‘Jontrona.’ First, I want people to know that I'm coming with ‘Jontrona’ as a heroine. Apart from this, there are discussions about several other movies. I might start working on a new movie around mid-November.

TDM: Can you share some details about the movie’s storyline?
Saima Smrity: It’s a love triangle story, and I’m quite interested and excited to work on this type of plot. Although movies with similar storylines have been made for a long time, there was a gap in such releases. Since the audience will be seeing this kind of story after a hiatus, I hope they’ll find it interesting.

TDM: Any memorable experiences during the shoot?
Saima Smrity: On the first day of shooting, I fell ill and had to go to the hospital. So, everyone was wondering about the heroine – we saw her arrive, but now she’s not here. Did she run away from the set? ...laughs... Later, I returned to the set from the hospital to resume shooting.

TDM: How was it working with Ador Azad as a co-star?
Saima Smrity: Ador Azad is the first hero of my first movie, so I have a positive and supportive attitude towards him. He also provided me with a lot of support during the shooting. The bond between the hero and heroine is essential for a successful movie, and I received that support from him.

TDM: Your birthday was on October 22. How did you celebrate it?
Saima Smrity: I had a special birthday celebration this year. We had the press conference for my first movie and announced its release on the same day. I met many talented directors, artistes, and journalists, marking the beginning of a new journey. So, I would say it was a special day for me.

TDM: Recently, Kazi Hayat praised you. How do you feel about his comments?
Saima Smrity
: His words mean a lot to me. When a senior director like him wishes me a happy birthday and expresses confidence in my future success, it’s an overwhelming feeling.

TDM: We know you’re a big fan of Shakib Khan. Shakib Khan’s superstar status has been widely discussed and criticised. How would you rate Shakib Khan?

Saima Smrity: To become a superstar, one must go through many struggles, a journey that spans 25 to 30 years to achieve such a status. Shakib Khan did it and succeeded. The budget and context of his early movies were different. He had no choice at that time, yet he worked hard and gained popularity. We should consider the time, place, and context when evaluating Shakib Khan. His dedication to his work over 25 years cannot be summarized in 25 seconds.

TDM: What are your thoughts on working on the OTT platform?

Saima Smrity: I’m open to working on any platform that allows me to further my career. OTT is a great platform, and since it’s very popular now, I intend to establish a presence for myself here as well.
