Renowned Indian author Samaresh Majumdar has passed away. He breathed his last at the age of 81 on Monday (8 May) evening at a hospital in Kolkata.
Samaresh Majumdar was born on March 10, 1942. His quartet of Uttoradhikar, Kalbela, Kalpurush and Mousalkal is considered a modern classic. Kalbela won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1984.
He was admitted to the hospital due to a cerebral haemorrhage on 25 April. Later his respiratory complications increased. He had been suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) for a long time.
