We all know that coconut oil has amazing benefits for our hair. It is a classic ingredient full of nutrients and minerals that boost hair and scalp health. On top of this goodness, it has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Tea tree oil is an essential oil that is just as amazing for our hair and scalp health. Well, the star of today’s conversation is tea tree oil. Let’s get to know what it is and what it does.
Tea tree oil comes from a plant called Melaleuca alternifolia (also called tea tree), which is a member of the Myrtaceae family and is indigenous to Australia. The color of tea tree oil varies from pale yellow to almost colorless.
Tea tree oil contains antifungal qualities that neutralize the fungus on our scalp and helps to fight dandruff. When it comes to addressing hair issues, tea tree oil is an incredible and effective natural therapy. The oil unclogs hair follicles and regulates excessive sebum production. The oil can be used in multiple ways to get the whole range of its benefits.
Moreover, this essential oil also has a cool camphoraceous scent that will make you feel like it's summer! This particular smell has mood uplifting properties which is an attribute that is cherished by all users.
According to studies, tea tree oil has a key role in encouraging hair development. This oil nourishes hair while strengthening the roots and clearing up clogged follicles. It stimulates blood flow and regulates scalp's pH level to promote healthy hair development.
Research also says that tea tree oil can completely get rid of head lice in about 30 minutes, and if used in greater concentration, it can even cause 50% of the eggs to become non-viable.
The main cause of dandruff is atopic dermatitis, which is caused by the yeast-like fungus called Malassezia globose. To effectively solve this problem, mix in some tea tree oil with the coconut oil to boost the fungus-killing strength of the coconut oil, while adding aroma to calm and soothe the senses.
Furthermore, dandruff causes stunted hair growth. Tea tree oil can also be used to promote hair growth. To use the oil to this effect, take ten drops of tea tree oil, two tablespoons of coconut oil and mix it up to make a concoction. Slightly warm up this mixture and apply the lukewarm oil on scalp and hair.
Once the oil mixture has been applied to the whole scalp, gently massage it for 10 minutes. Section the hair and massage the warm oil onto the scalp. Then wrap a heated, moist towel over on your head to produce a warm environment to open the hair follicles and allow all the nutrients to soak in. Keep the oil for 20 minutes, then wash it off. Experts recommend this treatment to be done three times a week for the most benefits.
The combination of coconut oil and tea tree oil will also relieve your scalp from itchiness. If you have problematic scalp, prepare a mixture by combining 8–10 drops of tea tree oil with 1-2 tablespoons of natural coconut oil. Apply the oil mixture to your head and massage the scalp gently. Leave it on your scalp for 30- 60 minutes, and rinse it with regular shampoo.
Besides reducing dandruff, the combination of tea tree oil and coconut oil improves overall hair and scalp condition to give you beautiful, strong hair and healthy scalp. It even improves your mood by exuding a musky and refreshing smell along with the ever-known sweet and fruity smell of coconut oil.
