The United States will erasing the tracks of its "failed" Ukraine policy, including through dismissals and resignations such as that of US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday ( 6 March).

On Tuesday, Nuland announced her decision to resign in the coming weeks following her recent visit to Kiev.

"They will now cover their tracks, including by similar resignations, dismissals, via attempt to reset the whole story related to their foreign policy failure and miscalculation ... This is a stable, succession-based betrayal of its own allies by the United States. The US has never changed its policy on this matter," Zakharova told.

The diplomat also said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his entourage could not be unaware of Washington's plans because Moscow had "continuously warned" about such possible scenarios.

In February, at a public meeting at the US Center for Strategic and International Studies, Nuland expressed her continued support for more massive US military aid to Ukraine and predicted that the Ukrainian troops would have major battlefield successes against the Russian forces in new offensives later this year.

Western countries have been providing military and financial aid to Kiev since the start of Russia's military operation in Ukraine in February 2022. The Kremlin has consistently warned against continued arms deliveries to Kiev, saying it would lead to further escalation of the conflict. Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier this month that the US should stop supplying weapons to Ukraine if it wishes the conflict to be resolved.
