According to the session, Agriculture PV referred to as agrivoltaics or solar farming, offers an opportunity for the farms to cultivate crops in a more resource-efficient manner and create new synergies.
It enables dual land use, allowing agricultural activities to continue underneath solar panels. This optimizes land use, particularly valuable in areas where land is scarce or expensive.
Moreover, studies have shown that partial shading provided by solar panels in Agriculture PV systems can reduce evaporation, maintain soil moisture, and moderate temperature extremes, resulting in improved crop yields.
Besides, Jennifer Morgan, state secretary and special envoy for international climate action at the German Foreign Ministry, Stefan Wenzel, parliamentary state secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action will speak in the 10th Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue.
IRENA’s Director General Francesco La Camera will present the WTO brief “Tracking COP28 outcomes: Tripling renewable capacity by 2030” while Dr Simone Peter, president of the German Renewable Energy Federation (BEE) will give an update on the initiative 3xRenewables from the last COP.
