The German Foreign Ministry on Tuesday (19 March) condemned the test-launch of short-range ballistic missiles carried out by North Korea the day prior.
"We strongly condemn yesterday's illegal launch of several short-range ballistic missiles by North Korea. Missile launches constitute another serious violation of the requirements under relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. They clearly jeopardize security on the Korean Peninsula and in the entire region," the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry also called on North Korea to refrain from further missile tests, comply with its international legal obligations, and accept negotiation proposals from the United States and South Korea, as well as enter into "serious negotiations on dismantling its nuclear and missile program."
On Monday, North Korea launched three missiles that fell in the Sea of Japan. Japan's defense ministry stated that the projectiles flew 350 kilometers (217.5 miles) at an altitude of 50 kilometers.
