Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina congratulated Vladimir Putin on being re-elected as the President of Russia.

This information was confirmed by the Prime Minister's Press Wing on Thursday (21 March).

Putin is about to return to power after receiving more than 87 percent of the votes in the Russian presidential election. His nearest rival, Russian Communist Party candidate Nikolai Mikhailovich Kharitonov, received just over 4 percent of the vote. Prior to this, voting was held in the country for three consecutive days.

This victory ensured Putin's stay in power for another six years. It was declared in an information report on Monday (18 March).

Russian President Vladimir Putin has consolidated his power with a landslide victory in the just-concluded election, according to reports. However, this election has been widely criticized due to the crisis of democratic legitimacy.

In a post-election press conference, Putin cited the result as a reflection of his decision to ignore the Western world and invade Ukraine.
