The US National Archives has announced this week having turned over 211 emails containing 5,860 pages to the House Oversight Committee as part of the Republican investigation of US President Joe Biden on Saturday (30 March).
The Republican-controlled committee is seeking to prove the head of state's involvement in the business of relatives who allegedly traded his name around the world, all ultimately to find grounds for an impeachment vote.
The documents turned over to the committee included emails using Biden's pseudonym while he was vice president, drafts of his 2015 speech to the Ukrainian parliament, and correspondence with Biden's son Hunter or his business associates.
A senior House Democratic official told the portal that the National Archives has released more than 20,000 emails related to Hunter Biden and the Biden family and turned over more than 75,000 additional pages of documents to House Republicans. The unnamed official was cited as saying that the archive has tried to respond in good faith to Republican questions and even tripled its staff to respond.
