The US government is negotiating an invitation for Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to the NATO summit in Washington in July, Japanese newspaper Sankei reported on Sunday (31 March).
The Japanese side will give an answer on the participation of the head of government after reconciling his schedule.
In addition to Kishida, the US may also invite South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol.
In 2022, Kishida became the first Japanese prime minister to attend a NATO summit. He also attended the alliance's meeting last year.
