Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Wednesday (8 May) condemned a recent wave of attacks against politicians in Germany, including a former mayor of Berlin who was hit in the head with a bag.
"The attacks on Franziska Giffey and other politicians are outrageous and cowardly," Scholz wrote on X, formerly Twitter, adding that politicians "deserve respect".
