About 12 children were injured at a school in the Russian city of Krasnodar on Saturday (25 May), where the wind blew off a part of the roof, and received shrapnel wounds of varying severity, the Krasnodar Territory prosecutor's office said.
Earlier in the day, Krasnodar Major Evgeny Naumov said that a part of the roof in the school was torn off before the beginning of the solemn line on the occasion of the last call, injuring several people.
"It is preliminary established that on May 25, 2024 at about 08:18 (05:18 GMT) on the territory of the school No. 29, located at the address: the Russian city of Krasnodar, Ulitsa Ryleyeva, 147, due to a strong gust of wind, there was a tear in the roofing of the roof, as a result of which about 12 children were injured, receiving shrapnel wounds of varying degrees of severity, the exact number of victims is established," the office said.
An inspection into the incident has been launched, the office added.
