Russia's Zapad (West) group of forces have defeated Ukrainian troops in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and the Kharkov (also known as Kharkiv) region, while the Ukrainian military has lost up to 570 soldiers in clashes over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday ,June 10.
"Units of the Zapad group of forces occupied more advantageous positions, defeating formations of [Ukrainian troops in the DPR and the Kharkov region] ... The enemy lost up to 570 soldiers and four cars," the ministry said in a statement.
Kiev has also lost up to 430 soldiers in battles with the southern group of the Russian forces, the ministry said, adding that the central group has repelled five counterattacks by Ukrainian troops and Kiev has lost up to 345 soldiers. In clashes with the eastern group, Kiev has lost up to 140 soldiers.
The northern group of the Russian forces has repelled seven counterattacks, while Kiev has lost up to 255 soldiers, the statement read, adding that the Russian forces have also control of the Staromaiorske settlement in the DPR.
