More than 500 Palestinians have died in the West Bank since October 7, 2023, including over 120 children, the World Health Organization (WHO) said.
"A spike in violence in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since the war in Gaza started has resulted in the deaths of 521 Palestinians, including 126 children between 7 October 2023 and 10 June 2024," WHO said on X on Friday (15 June).
Over 5,200 people, including 800 children, have been injured, putting additional strain on already limited health resources for trauma care, it added.
Meanwhile, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that a large number of people in the Gaza Strip were experiencing "catastrophic hunger."
"Over 8,000 children under 5 years old have been diagnosed and treated for acute malnutrition, including 1,600 children with severe acute malnutrition," Ghebreyesus wrote on X.
WHO has said it has recorded more than 800 attacks in the occupied Palestinian territories since October 7. In April, Ghebreyesus said that only 10 out of Gaza's 36 hospitals were still operational to some extent.
