Pakistan recorded on Friday (16 August) the country's first case of the deadly mpox virus, health officials said, after the World Health Organization declared an international public health emergency over its spread.
"The first case of mpox has been confirmed in Pakistan," the spokesman of the Ministry of Health said in a statement, adding that the strain of the virus was yet to be confirmed and the affected person had come from a Gulf country.
