End of Readers’ Writers’ Fair in New York

The International Bengali Book Fair in New York was full of readers and writers. People from different parts of the country and abroad participate in this three-day fair. 41 publishing companies participated in this fair at the Jamaica Art Performing Center in New York, USA.

It was organized by Muktdhara Foundation. This reunion fair broke on Monday. This fair was the 33rd. According to the organizing company, books worth about 2 lakh dollars have been sold at this year's book fair.

So the organizers are quite happy. Earlier, Bangla Academy Director General Nurul Huda came from Bangladesh to participate in the inauguration.

He inaugurated the fair on Friday. In a conversation with him, he said, the biggest event for Bengali-speaking people is this book fair in New York.

Everyone is coming here, buying books, it's a lot of fun. This international book fair has become a meeting place for immigrants. I am very happy about it.

One of the highlights of the book fair was the Muktdhara GFB Literary Award. This time the award was given to the fiction writer Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay.

He lives in Kolkata but was born in Mymensingh district of Bangladesh. Besides, Chittaranjan Saha Best Publisher Award was given to an organization from among the publishers who participated in the fair.

This time, Farid Ahmed, the Owner and editor of Shomoy Prakashani, received the award. This information was given by Biswajit Saha, General Secretary of Muktdhara Foundation. Hasan Ferdous was the convener of the New York International Bangla Book Fair.

Apart from that, the Ambassador of Bangladesh to the United States Mohammad Imran, Former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University AMS Arifin Siddique, Kobi Kazi Nazrul Islam University Vice-Chancellor Soumitra Shekhar, Member Secretary of Liberation War Museum actress Sara Zaker and many others were present as guests.
