How will expatriates’ assets be secured?

How will expatriates’ assets be secured?

I stand before you, not just as an individual, but as a voice for the countless families besieged by the cancer of corruption. My roots run deep in the soil of this nation, nurtured by the sacrifices of those who fought for our freedom in 1971. Yet, despite our hard-won independence, a new battle rages within our own homes.

I speak today not from a place of anger but from a heart heavy with disappointment and betrayal. My own flesh and blood, a retired army officer entrusted with the honour of our family name, has succumbed to the seductive allure of corruption. Lt. Colonel (Ret.) Hannan Mridha, once a beacon of hope, now stands as a testament to the insidious reach of greed.

For four decades, I have laboured tirelessly, both abroad and within these borders, to uplift my family and contribute to the prosperity of Bangladesh. Yet, all my efforts pale compared to the stain of corruption threatening to consume us. Despite our pleas and appeals to conscience, my brother persists in his deceit, squandering our hard-earned assets with impunity.

But let me be clear: this is not merely a family matter; it is a stain on the very fabric of our nation. When those entrusted with upholding the law and safeguarding our values succumb to corruption, where can the ordinary citizen turn to justice?

I refuse to stand idly by as corruption festers within my own family, poisoning the well of progress for future generations. I call upon every citizen, soldier, and patriot to join me in condemning this injustice and demanding accountability.

We must rise as one to purge our families of corruption and reclaim the noble ideals upon which our nation was founded. Together, we can build a Bangladesh free from the shackles of greed, where honesty and integrity reign supreme.

Let us not falter in the face of adversity, for the future of our nation hangs in the balance. Together, we can forge a path towards a brighter tomorrow, where the sacrifices of our forefathers are honored and justice prevails.
