Goainghat, Companyganj, Jaintapur, Kanaighat, and Jokiganj in Sylhet district have been severely affected by flooding. As a result, 500,000 people have become marooned. Torrential rains from India have caused floodwaters to submerge 5,601 hectares of crops in the district. Consequently, all tourist centers in Sylhet have been declared closed.
