Law enforcement agencies will remain vigilant during the second round of blockades organized by the BNP and Jamaat. The police, RAB, BGB, and a substantial number of Ansar Guard battalion members will be patrolling the streets, ready to respond to any potential incidents. Special security measures have already been put in place, with at least two hundred locations under close surveillance.
The DMP commissioner shared this information during a meeting with leaders of the bus owner association at the DMP headquarters in the capital on Saturday. During the meeting, he emphasized the importance of safe driving by bus drivers during strikes and blockades, promising full police assistance.
Commissioner Habibur Rahman assured the association leaders, saying, "You should continue to operate smoothly on the roads as you have in the past. The government stands ready to support you. If any vehicles are damaged, compensation will be arranged. We aim to demonstrate that we are stronger than troublemakers on all fronts."
He added, "Our collective efforts will succeed. I have strong faith in your patriotism, as your past actions against arson and terrorism have been a shining example of dedication to our country."
Regarding the BNP and Jamaat blockades, DMP Joint Commissioner Biplab Kumar Sarkar stated, "In the second phase of these blockades, law enforcement will be even more vigilant than before, with additional police and Ansar Guard Battalion members deployed to counter any potential acts of terrorism."
He stressed their determination to prevent vandalism, enforcing a zero-tolerance policy.
Special security measures have been implemented in approximately two hundred locations, considering the first-time blockade. Senior officials made these decisions after reviewing security concerns.
These locations include various areas in Dhaka, such as Mirpur, Kafrul, Pallabi, Shahali, Mohammadpur, Motijheel, Khilgaon, Sabujbagh, Jatrabari, Kotwali, Lalbagh, Badda, Manda, Jheel project area, Nandipara, Maniknagar, Trimohani, Nasirabad, and Khilgaon police stations, among others.
Furthermore, AGB Colony, Shahjahanpur, Fakirapool, Railway Colony, Gopibagh, Ttpara, Rampura Thana Banshri, Badda Thana Noor Chala, Beraid, Cholmaid, Shahjadpur, Khilkhet Namapara, Kuril, Nikunj area, Uttara Thana, Uttara Khan, and Dakshinkhan in Motijheel police station area, Mainartek of Thana area, Atipara Demra, Sanarpar, Barabari, Bhavanbagicha, Muradpur, Sarulia, Tengba, Konapara, Shahidnagar, Shyampur Wasa Pukurpar, Mirhajirbagh, Faridabad, and Qutubpur are also under special vigilance.
DMP DB Additional Commissioner Harunur Rashid noted that intelligence police are actively monitoring and making arrests. Detectives are working to apprehend those involved in acts of sabotage, including the killing of police officers on October 28 and vehicle burnings during strikes.
RAB's legal and media department director, Khandaker Al Moin, emphasized that there would be no leniency for saboteurs. RAB will be on high alert across the country, particularly in the Gazipur industrial area, where a group may attempt to disrupt operations. RAB's patrolling activities have increased in this area.
In response to a question, he confirmed that patrols and operations to arrest saboteurs are ongoing. On the previous Friday, 19 saboteurs were arrested in various locations across the country, including the capital.
BGB sources indicated that 14 platoons of BGB are already actively supporting other forces to maintain law and order. An additional 20 platoons of BGB are set to be deployed in the capital for the blockade, with reserves available for other districts as needed.
Ansar Guard's public relations officer, Zahidul Islam, stated that they would deploy 5,000 members in the capital. These members will be stationed at different locations throughout the city under armed conditions, primarily assisting other law enforcement agencies in maintaining order during the blockade.
