The ruling Awami League has announced candidates for 298 constituencies in the upcoming 12th national election, but no candidates have been announced for Kushtia-2 or Narayanganj-5.
On Sunday (26 November), AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced the names of the candidates at a press conference at the party's headquarters on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.

The Election Commission confirmed on 15 November that the 12th Jatiya Sangsad election will be held on 7 January, despite strong opposition from opposition parties such as the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami.
