Shakib Al Hasan has secured the AL nomination for Magura-1.
Obaidul Quader, the party's General Secretary, made the announcement at a press conference at the party's headquarters on Bangabandhu Avenue.
On October 18, a representative for the all-rounder purchased nomination forms for the Magura-1, 2 and Dhaka-10 constituencies from the Awami League's central office at 23 Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.
During the 2018 national election, speculation surfaced on social media that Shakib Al Hasan and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza will buy the AL nomination for the 11th national election.
However, after meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the national team's star cricketer, Shakib Al Hasan, eventually opted against acquiring the nomination form while Mashrafe Bin Mortaza was nominated and letter elected as the lawmaker of Narail-2 constituency.
