A Dhaka court on Monday (18 December) rejected the bail petitions of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury in a case filed with Paltan Police Station on October 28.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury rejected the bail petitions and asked police to interrogate them at the jail gate.
The court also rejected the remand petitions of them in the case filed in connection with their involvement in sabotage activities.
Earlier on December 14, investigating officer of the case Sumit Kumar sought a 10-day remand for them in the case.
Mirza Fakhrul was arrested from his Gulshan residence on October 29, in a case filed over vandalising chief justice's residence during his party's grand rally on October 28.
A Dhaka metropolitan magistrate later sent him to jail after rejecting his bail petition on October 30.
Meanwhile, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury was arrested in a case over killing a police constable during violence on November 3.
The murder case was filed against him with Paltan police station.
