Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Thursday (28 December) said if their party is elected in the upcoming 12th national elections, it will create employment opportunities for one crore people in the next five years.
He remarked at a press conference at the AL President's Dhanmondi political office in the capital this afternoon.
Quader said the government is making optimum efforts to keep the prices of essential commodities at affordable level as it is a burning issue now.
"There is a commitment of creating employment opportunities for the youth. One crore jobs will be created in the next five years, while 20 lakh jobs per year. This is our target," he said.
The AL general secretary said their party's priorities are to increase capacity in the country's banking and financial sector and expand the industry sector, ensure effectiveness and accountability of the law enforcing agencies, prevent militancy, and practice and promote democratic system.
Noting that the AL government will take lessons from its past mistakes, he said the honesty and courage Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has shown in her speech is the most important thing.
The premier has told that her government would take lessons from its past mistakes despite having remarkable development in the country, Quader said.
AL organising secretary BM Mozammel Haque, office secretary Biplab Barua, relief and social welfare affairs secretary Aminul Islam and deputy office secretary Sayem Khan were, among others, present.
