Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday (6 January) called upon the people to go to polling centers without any fear avoiding BNP's rumor and propaganda.

"Boycott the programme of BNP-Jamaat spreading panic in polls. Law enforcement agencies and security forces have been deployed to help for holding a peaceful election," he urged the voters in a press conference in his Noakhali-5 constituency (Companiganj-Kabirhat).

He added: "Come to polling centers without any fear and cast your vote to exercise your constitutional rights. Don't bow down to any sorts of intervention and intimidation."

Quader hoped polls will be held across the country in a free, fair, neutral and peaceful manner as foreign and local observers and foreign journalists will observe the election.

About BNP-Jamaat's subversive activities ahead of the elections, he said on Saturday the terrorist character of the evil force who is boycotting polls have been exposed again.

He expressed deep concern and condemnation over BNP and their cohorts's sabotage, arson and terrorist activities centering the January 7 election.

On Friday (5 January) night, they killed four people including two children and burnt several others by setting fire on Dhaka-bound Benapole Express train coaches in the capital's Gopibagh area.

"We are expressing strong protest and condemnation over the heinous terrorist activity," he said.
