The ruling party Awami League on Saturday (27 January) has announced new programmes featuring peace and development rallies with red and green flags on Tuesday (30 January) following BNP’s announcement of black-flag procession on the same day.
AL will observe their rallies all across the country on the same day as the first session of the newly formed twelfth national parliament.
On Saturday, AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader unveiled the party's platform during a rally organized by the Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League in front of the party's central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in the city.
"People do not support the BNP's black flag march on January 30th. They do not engage in strikes or blockades organized by them. When will their movement actually begin? "After Ramadan, or after Eid?" he asked.
"China, India, and Russia may be friendly, but the government was elected by popular vote. Commodity prices will fall shortly because Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has begun working with the entire government," Quader added.
"Sheikh Hasina's cabinet was elected with 41.8% of the votes. It is the governance of the people.
