Awami League General Secretary and bridge minister Obaidul Quader said, government is not concerned about the BNP's reaction to the election, as its main concern is to keep the prices of commodities under control.

He said at a press briefing at Awami League president’s political office in Dhanmondi on Friday (2 February).

“No matter how many dramas the BNP stages, they do not have the support of the people,” Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister.

Quader said the BNP did not participate in the election and failed in its movement to oust the government. “They have to protect their face from their foreign friends now.”

Even after they boycotted the election, the voter turnout was 41.8% with the participation of 28 parties. “Various countries and organizations from all over the world have congratulated the prime minister and pledged to work together,” he added.

Quader said the United States also has not said the election was completely flawed, adding that US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas has congratulated the prime minister.
