Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said, we (Bangladesh) follow the true form of democracy.
He made the comments at a press briefing at the political office of the Awami League president in Dhanmondi on Friday (9 February).
He also said, the Western world is not as concerned with the Pakistan election, the way it was with the one in Bangladesh.
"Pakistan's democracy and Bangladesh's democracy are very different. There is no caretaker government in any country of the world, except Pakistan. The Western countries imposed sanctions, and visa restrictions, but they did nothing with Pakistan,” he added.
Quader said there were several reports of violence and vote rigging during Pakistan's election and nine people died in the violence. “So we (Bangladesh) follow the true form of democracy. Our election was fair, even though the opposition did not participate.”
