Several eminent citizens of the country have expressed hope that the new interim government will bring back democracy, order and peace in the country. They said, there are many challenges in front of this government. Some of the advisors in the new government are brand new so it will take time to understand how they will perform.
When the names of 16 advisers, including Muhammad Yunus as chief advisor were published on Thursday evening, The Daily Messenger contacted prominent people from different sectors of the country on the matter.
The issue was discussed with the editor for Shushashoner Jonno Nagorik (Citizens for Good Governance) (SHUJAN) Badiul Alam Majumdar. He said, especially at this time Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus has taken charge, it is a positive thing. Besides, most of the advisors are skilled people. There are also some new people. The overall situation of the country is quite complicated. So it will take time to see how they do. Even so, in the last word, he expressed hope that Dr Yunus will manage it properly.
Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD) research director Dr Khondaker Golam Moazzem said, the advisors who have been included are skilled in their respective fields. However, it's a matter of time to see how much they will be able to fulfill their responsibilities amid the economic and political crisis.
Jahangirnagar University retired professor and political analyst Dr. Dilara Chowdhury has acknowledged the significant changes occurring in the country, expressing hope that the new government will work towards establishing a democratic system after a prolonged period of authoritarian rule.
Regarding the new government, Dr. Chowdhury noted, "Many of the individuals in the new government are experienced, though there are also newcomers. They face numerous challenges in this delicate economic and political environment. It will take time to gauge their effectiveness, especially given the complexities faced by an unelected administration compared to an elected one."
