Mizanur Rahman Minu, an adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and former lawmaker for Rajshahi-2 has called for the legal action agaisnt BNP leaders or activists involved in unlawful activities, including extortion and land grabbing.
He emphasised that anyone engaged in wrongdoing under the guise of BNP affiliation should be handed over to law enforcement agencies.
Minu said this during a press conference held at his residence in Rajshahi's Chandrima Residential Area on Saturday (17 August) morning.
Since August 5, efforts have been underway to identify those committing various offenses while posing as BNP members, Minu said. He warned that strict organisational measures would be enforced if any BNP members are found guilty of such actions.
He also addressed concerns about the Rajshahi British Council, asserting that attempts to seize the 150-year-old land of the British Council would be resisted. “We will not allow this institution to be destroyed or taken over by any malevolent forces,” he stated.
On the topic of Tarique Rahman's return to the country, Minu criticised the ongoing situation, stating that the BNP acting chairman has been unfairly kept out of the country. “Legal proceedings are ongoing, and we hope he will return home soon. The people of the country are eagerly awaiting his return,” Minu added.
