Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Wednesday (21 August) chalked out a five-day programme (August 31-September 4), including a rally and a discussion, to celebrate its 46th founding anniversary on September 1.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the programmes at a press conference at its Nayapaltan central office after a joint meeting of the party and its associate bodies.
As per the announcement, discussions will be held in all the cities, districts and upazilas on August 31.
On September 1, the party flag will be hoisted atop the Nayapaltan central office and all other offices of BNP across the country in the morning, Fateha will be offered and wreaths will be placed at the grave of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman in the capital at 11:00am and Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (JASAS) will organize a cultural programme at the Central Shaheed Minar in the evening.
Besides, rallies will be brought out in all the cities, districts and upazilas on September 02, fish fries will be released in water bodies in the cities, districts, upazilas and unions on September 03 and the tree plantation campaign will be launched throughout the country on September 04.
Apart from the central programmes, BNP's associate bodies and all their units across the country will mark the day with due respect by arranging their own designed programmes.
On the occasion of the foundation anniversary, BNP and associate bodies will publish posters and special supplements.
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and its joint secretary general Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anne were, among others, present.
On September 1, 1978, Ziaur Rahman formed BNP with a 19-point programme to build a self-reliant Bangladesh. BNP ruled the country for several terms.
