Leaders and activists of three affiliated organisations of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), including Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal and Swechchasebak Dal, have started a march towards the Indian High Commission in Dhaka protesting the recent events happening in India demeaning Bangladesh.
The march started at around 11:30am from the party's central office at Nayapaltan. The decision to hold the march was announced through a statement yesterday.
Before the march started, a short rally was held at Nayapaltan where the BNP's Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi spoke as the chief guest. Many leaders and activists of three associate bodies of BNP, including Jubo Dal President Abdul Monayem Munna, are present at the march.
The leaders and activists of the three organisations will submit a memorandum to the Indian High Commission in protest against the recent attack at the Bangladesh mission in Agartala, the desecration of the national flag of Bangladesh, and an "Indian plot to incite communal riots" in Bangladesh.
While forming a crowd outside BNP's Nayapaltan office, the political leaders and activists chanted various slogans, including a call to boycott Indian products and a demand to the Indian government to send back ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina to stand trial.
