The crimes committed by Awami League are getting overshadowed by the ongoing political debates, said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. The BNP leader made the remark at a press briefing held on the topic of massive corruption by AL government at BNP Chairperson's Office in the capital's Gulshan today (2 January).

"The theft, corruption, plundering- all the crimes committed by AL are getting sidetracked due to the political debates. They are being benefitted from this," Fakhrul said. "We need to say these things again and again, otherwise people will forget the thuggery of AL," Fakhrul added.

In a written statement, BNP's Standing Committee Member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku said, "Awami League has ruined the people while trying to magically improve the power sector. Corruption has gripped all aspects of this sector, nothing has been left out."

"During the last 15 years, AL had turned the power sector into a business sector. The people are now bearing the brunt of their corruption. Such a development of the power sector is not sustainable. It will break down any moment," Tuku added.

During this time, Tuku urged the interim government to make each of the agreements in the power sector open to public. Nazrul Islam Khan, another standing committee member of BNP, was also present at the briefing.
