BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has called the proposed budget as "Patron Client Relationship" or "Party Backing Economy".
He made the comment on Thursday (1 June) in his post-budget reaction at his Banani residence in the capital.
He said, “This budget has been placed to continue their 'patronage economy'. That is, their blessed ones are flourishing. It is a rental, extortion and commission-based economy.”
He said that it is beyond the capability of the Awami League but the mass people have to bear the responsibility. All institutions have become centers of looting.
Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said, "The entire economic structure is built on the 'Patron Client Relationship'. Thus a class is getting rich making the rest of the country’s people in danger. A group is making a profit by keeping the public out. Which is nowhere found in the world.
This top BNP leader told journalists, "The difference between the previous and the current budget is the increase in looting." “Which government can launder money so smartly? So of course it's smart budgeting!” he noted.
At the start of the Budget reaction speech, Amir Khasru alleged that law enforcement or intelligence agency people were entering his house illegally without permission. He said, "By entering his house and their presence, it proves that one should be careful to give a budget reaction as well. Or there is no opportunity to react. "
