BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that along with the outline, a joint declaration of the anti-government movement with BNP and like-minded parties will be coming soon. He made this remark while speaking to journalists at Gulshan BNP Chairperson's office in the capital on Monday (26 June).

Responding to a query by The Daily Messenger about the outline of their movement and the timing of the joint declaration, Mirza Fakhrul said, "Don't be restless. Everything is coming. Be patient. We want to move forward in our own way."

When his attention was drawn to the fact that this is the last Eid under the current government, the BNP secretary general said, "Why should this be the last Eid? Why can't it be the first Eid for all of us? Don't worry, Ramadan or Eid doesn't matter as far as the movement is concerned," he said.

Regarding Canada's initiative on visa policy followed by the United States, Mirza Fakhrul said, "As the people of Bangladesh want democracy, fair elections, and the right to vote, the democratic world is taking initiatives according to their responsibility."

"But we are not very happy about it because it is a matter of shame for the country. Foreigners are giving suggestions for the government's failure. This government is isolated from the people, and democracy has vanished," he added.

The BNP secretary general complained that law enforcement agencies are being used, but this cannot happen in any civilised democratic country. He mentioned, "You are not safe for a moment. Everyone is afraid to talk on the phone."

In response to another question from the journalists, Mirza Fakhrul said, "This government has lost its acceptability everywhere in the country and abroad. They are not acceptable to the people anymore. They have to form a caretaker government."

"The international community is sending a clear message— elections under a neutral government, or you will have to leave," he further added.
