500 blankets and winter clothes were distributed among the poor people in Kharkharia village of Chilmari Upazila of Kurigram district, on Monday (25 December), under the initiative of BASIS and Rotary Club of Dhaka Central, in collaboration with Aminul-Sahera-Ahmedul Foundation.
AKM Ahmadul Islam BABU, Director of BASIS and Founder of ASAF, Sahera Islam, Chairman of ASAF and Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan from Rotary Club of Dhaka Central were present in the distribution ceremony.
At the program, BASIS Director AKM Ahmedul Islam BABU said, “Kurigram is a neglected district. Most of the people here were poor. If other organizations like BASIS and Rotary Club and the rich people of the society extend their helping hand to the needy people, they will at least get relief from the cold.”
People who received blankets and winter clothes said that they could not afford to buy blankets and winter clothes. Now they will be able to protect themselves from the cold with this blanket and winter clothes.
