Ami Probbashi app in collaboration with Aspire to Innovate (A2i) programme trained up digital centres entrepreneurs for enhancing services for expatriates.
Some 300 entrepreneurs selected from across the country were trained on government and BRAC services available on the Ami Probashi platform, said a press release on Sunday (31 December).
A2i project director Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan was present as the chief guest while Brac migration programme head Shariful Hasan was special guest on the occasion.
Arif Hossain, an entrepreneur of Baropara Union Digital Centre in Cumilla was selected as the best innovative entrepreneur. Three other entrepreneurs are Payal Dev, Arafat Hossain Nabin, and Alamgir Hossain were recognized for providing the highest service through the expatriate help desk and were given the best Performance Award.
The Expatriate Help Desk initiative commenced from three digital centres In February 2021 on experimental basis to facilitate the migration journey of Bangladeshi citizens and provide necessary services.
Now, a total of 1000 expatriate help desks have been set up in 373 upazilas inhabited by expatriates in 64 districts from a2i. These centers provide more than 80,000 services to expatriates per month while remittance worth of Tk 400 million are withdrawn monthly.
The Desk offers online BMET registration, PDO enrollment, and BMET clearance, all at their fingertips. Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment has extended support for the programme.
