The 25th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) was held on Tuesday (12 March) at RAOWA Convention Hall, Mohakhali in Dhaka. The meeting highlighted to continue endeavor of BASIS on the way to build a Smart Bangladesh.
BASIS President Russell T. Ahmed presided over the AGM while other Executive Council (EC) members including Senior Vice-President Samira Zuberi Himika, Vice President (Admin) Abu Daud Khan, Vice President (Finance) Fahim Ahmed, BASIS Directors- Habibullah Neyamul Karim, AKM Ahmedul Islam BABU, Mushfiqur Rahman, Syed Mohammad Kamal, Tanvir Hossain Khan, Md. Mostafizur Rahaman Sohel and Rashad Kabir were present.
Besides, BASIS founding President A. Towhid, former presidents Rafiqul Islam Rowly, A.K.M. Fahim Mashroor, Shameem Ahsan, Syed Almas Kabir along with representatives of more than five hundred BASIS member companies were present.
At the meeting, the Annual Report of BASIS for the year 2023 along with the Accounts of the Association with the Auditors Report for the fiscal year 2022-2023 were presented and an auditor was appointed to audit the income and expenditure accounts for the fiscal year 2023-24.
During the meeting, BASIS Vice President (Admin) Abu Daud Khan presented the activities report implemented by BASIS in the last one year focusing on making human resources for future-proof, developing local industry, developing foreign markets, increasing access to capital & fiscal incentives, creating a thriving ecosystem for startups, promoting the ICT industry, development and expansion of information technology sector, steps taken to increase the capacity of the BASIS Secretariat.
In the meeting, BASIS Vice-President (Finance) Fahim Ahmed presented the annual report for 2023 and the audited financial report for the financial year 2022-2023.
After the presentation a significant number of members took part in the discussion session and gave their views on regarding both of the presentations.
At the meeting, BASIS President Russell T. Ahmed, said, “Now we are on the way of implementing Smart Bangladesh. We have a long way to go ahead. BASIS, along with its members, continues to play a significant role in this regard to build the nation. We would like to take all of you along and make an effective contribution to the development of the country's software and IT services sector. We will work together and we will take BASIS further forward.”
Besides, BASIS President sought the spontaneous cooperation of the members in implementing the future plan successfully.
However, BASIS members urged to the BASIS leaders to play an effective role in the development of ICT sector and create a business-friendly environment for all.
