A national-level Olympiad programme for students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) wrapped up on Saturday (6 July) making call to promote innovations among young generations.
The Ministry of Education and iTesseract Technologies jointly organised the programme to inspire students to learn with innovation at the National Museum in the capital.
Social Welfare Minister Dr Dipu Moni connected the closing ceremony as chief guest while Jatiya Sangsad whip Sanjida Khanam and Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof ASM Masud Kamal were present as special guest. NSO chief advisor Prof Sazzad Hossain presided over the closing ceremony.
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Vice Chancellor Prof Satya Prasad Majumder, Bangladesh Communication Satellite Company Chairman Shahjahan Mahmood, ICT Division Secretary Shamsul Arefin, BASIS President Russell T Ahmed, ADN Group Chairman Asif Mahmood, ICT Department Director General Mustafa Kamal and Prime Bank Managing Director Hassan Rashid were present.
BUET Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Abdul Jabbar Khan, Prof Lafifa Jamal from Dhaka University and eGeneration Chairman Shameem Ahsan shared insights for the participants.
Students from primary to universities of different districts took part in the finals in eight groups to showcase innovative talent in their respective fields.
The organisers said the National STEAM Olympiad 2023 is an extraordinary event to explore the talents of the youth to create a smart Bangladesh and a skilled workforce fit for the Fourth Industrial Revolution by developing a culture of innovation.
Some 57976 students from 310 schools, 61 universities, 132 colleges, 22 polytechnic institutes and 25 madrasas registered with the competition.
Organizers said that objective of the National Steam Olympiad is to encourage students to develop their awareness and skills to prepare for the upcoming challenges and changes by laying emphasis on various skills related to the fourth industrial revolution. This Olympiad has been organised with emphasis on 5 subjects.
