TikTok finally unveils exciting group chat feature

TikTok has officially rolled out its much-anticipated group chat feature, enabling users to connect with up to 32 friends simultaneously. This feature is designed to enhance user interaction by allowing friends to communicate more effectively within the app.

However, it's important to note that this new functionality is still being phased in and may not yet be accessible in all regions.

For those who have access to the feature, initiating a group chat is straightforward. Users can start a group conversation in two main ways:

From Inbox: Begin by navigating to your inbox and clicking on the ‘Chat’ button located at the top of the screen. Next, select ‘More Options’ to choose the friends you want to include in the group chat. Once you've selected your participants, simply hit ‘Start Group Chat’ to initiate the conversation.

Video Sharing: If you prefer to share a video with multiple friends at once, tap the ‘Share’ button on the video you wish to send. From the sharing options, select ‘Create Group Chat’. This allows you to choose the friends you want to share the video with and add a personalized message if desired.

In addition to starting group chats, users can also accept invitations to group chats directly from their inbox. However, this feature is only available if the user is already part of another group chat with the person sending the invitation.

There are some restrictions in place for younger users. Specifically, TikTok has set age-related limitations for group chat access:

Users under the age of 15 are unable to use this feature.

Users aged 16-17 can participate in group chats only if there is at least one mutual friend within the group. When creating a new group chat, these younger users will need to manually approve each new member added to the conversation.

This new feature represents a significant step in enhancing social connectivity on the platform, allowing users to interact in a more dynamic and engaging manner.

As TikTok continues to roll out this feature across different regions, users can look forward to a more versatile and interactive experience within their favorite social media app.
