The Xiaomi Imagery Awards is currently going on and people can submit photographs they take with their Xiaomi and Redmi devices to stand a chance to win up to USD 10,000. Submissions opened from September 8 and will close on December 22, 2024.
Supported by Leica, the Xiaomi Imagery Award first started in 2019. It’s an annual global photography competition celebrating creativity and skill among Xiaomi and Redmi users, with a mission to showcase the impressive photography capabilities of Xiaomi’s mobile cameras.
This year, the awards cover four main categories. The Snapshot category, with a grand prize of $10,000, seeks powerful single images. The Photo Essay category, also offering $10,000, allows for 2-9 related photos that convey a cohesive story. The Only at Night category invites night-time photography showcasing Xiaomi’s low-light tech, with a prize pool that grows by $1 with each submission, currently at $4,686. The Judges’ Choice Award provides special recognition to four winners, each receiving $1,000. Honorable mentions will be awarded in the Snapshot and Photo Essay categories as well.
A distinguished judging panel from Leica, including documentary photographer Holly Marie-Cato, Leica’s Head of Image Karin Rehn-Kaufmann, street photographer Bobby Anward, and University of Barcelona professor Jordy Hernández-Prat, will evaluate entries based on creativity, technique, and emotional impact.
Participants can enter by submitting photos through the Xiaomi Community app or the Xiaomi Imagery Awards website. Each submission must be taken with a Xiaomi or Redmi device.
The Xiaomi Imagery Awards has built a global community of visual storytellers, reflecting Xiaomi’s commitment to mobile photography innovation and inclusivity since its launch.
